Creating your own config
In the folder X:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\<steam_username>\counter-strike source\cstrike\cfg\
Where X is the drive STEAM is installed to, and <steam_username> is your login name for STEAM
If it does not exist create a text file called userconfig.cfg (You will need Hide Extensions for Known File Types unchecked in Windows Explorer --> Tools --> Folder Options -- View to be able to view and rename a .txt file to a .cfg file.) and copy and paste the parts of my config you like.
Then in a file called autoexec.cfg place a single line stating:
exec userconfig.cfg
That is all you need.
Conclusion
I have found the Counter-Strike:Source is most dependant upon CPU speed, which is probably my main advantage in the game.
The config is pretty ordinary as are the rates I use. As you can see I run with default interp all the time as changing it does not seem to make a difference in Source, and playing with it appears to only make things worse.
Probably the main trick I do use is to change the crosshair colour depending upon the map. For light coloured maps like dust dust2 I will use the blue crosshair, for dark coloured maps like tides, aztec, train, cbble, I will use the gold crosshairs, and for other maps I will alternate between Turquoise and Green, depending upon the map.
Maybe somebody will find this information useful.
